Even though we try to keep up with the ever-growing list of trends, there are always a few that take us by surprise. Who knew that knit ponchos would make a comeback this year? Or that '90s NSYNC would secretly serve as modern day outfit inspiration? We've also been so focused on micro minis, wondering whether we should start styling them with Von Dutch hats and snarky graphic tees, that we nearly missed the return of the maxi skirt, which has seen a slow yet steady rise of its own.

But Jennifer Lopez hasn't been sleeping on this throwback style. In fact, she's seemingly been stocking up, stepping out in multiple denim options as of late and giving us dELiA*s catalogue flashbacks.

It's possible that Lopez just wants to get a head start embracing spring fashion. The maxi skirt was all over the runway last September, and even street style stars have begun working them into their rotation. The good news is, longer skirts are seasonless, work for multiple dress codes, and can be worn in just about any temperature (snowy days included) so if you're debating hopping on board, this trend will be a worthy investment.

Clearly, JLo is a fan of the maxi, but she's far from the only one. In recent months, Rachel Brosnahan, Kate Hudson, and have all been spotted wearing maxi skirts, proving the look is a favorite among celebrities and their stylists.
